A Participatory Planet: Growing
Haus der Kulturen der Welt
Stage Design 2024

"A Participatory Planet" is a series of events focusing on environmental justice. By inviting speakers from various fields such as science, activism, and farming, the series aims to foster community-level solutions through workshops and discussions. The events address themes of growing, consuming, and discarding, encouraging grassroots participation and collaboration.

As a scenographer, I designed spatial landscapes that embodied the event's themes of earth, environment, and nature. My design concept aimed to create spaces that promote collective engagement. Key elements included thread curtains as room dividers and stepped structures serving as presentation, seating, and work surfaces.
Each phase of the event featured distinct visual themes:
- Growing: Represented by green trees, meadows, blue skies, and colorful plants to symbolize blooming nature.
- Consuming: Highlighted through a variety of colors and shapes reflecting the earth's resources, alongside vibrant hues and presentations reminiscent of mass consumtion and product advertising.
